This is a 1971 reprint of the 1928 work by Enrico Somare which describes, discusses and depicts 333 reproductions of famous paintings as well as 33 trichrome color print. These are all full page plates with tissue covers over the color plates.

The book itself is 3/4 leather bound with cloth boards. Size is 9x12 and 657 pp with index. There was a scrape to the cloth of front cover which has been repaired. Pages 582-6 had been creased by careless reinsertion in the slip case. The spine has darkened somewhat. It is in a heavy duty cloth bound slip case with a ribbon to ease removing the book. Slip case is very good- condition solid and sound. Condition of this large and heavy work is Very good+ with pages bright. The production itself is on premium paper which is bright and clean. The binding is sound and tight with no cracks or creaks. Page edges near the binding have darkened. Written in Italian. This is volume I of a 2 volume set. Scarce and valuable work.
