Illustrated by John Leech (1817-1864) , with 30 full-page colored etchings, including frontispieces, and almost 300 woodcut vignettes. Aprox 2500pp. Elegantly bound in half red morocco over marbled boards, gilt lettering to spine, A. E. G. Condition: light shelf wear and rubbing to hinges. John Leech was a staff artist for "Punch" from its early issues in 1841. Gilbert Abbott A'Beckett (1811-1856) , was one of the original staff members for "Punch," and a frequent contributor to the "Illustrated London News." He was also selected by Charles Dickens to dramatize the "Chimes" and other works. Bindings signed by Charles E. Lauriat, Boston. Contents clean, no ownership markings.
