Born in Philadelphia, she went west with her family. She started San Francisco?s first free kindergarten in 1878 (the Silver Street Free Kindergarten). In the 1880?s, she and her sister founded a training school for kindergarten teachers. Her works include ?The Birds? Christmas Carol? (1887) and ?Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm? (1903). Dated 189-.
