Color and b/w; 216 pages; First Edition Antique Colonial & 19th Century America Residences Industry Farming Portraits Decorative Leather. Width: 12" Height: 14.5" shpg wt 9 lbs. Bound in quarter dark brown leather and brown cloth over beveled boards. The spine and the front cover have stamped gilt lettering and ornamental designs. The decorative designs on the front cover are blind stamped on the rear cover. The book shows external wear, with moisture markings to the lower left corner of front cover, light soiling and mild rubbing to the covers. This volume has gilt edges and moire endpapers. The binding is firm. Large stain appears at bottom of the front hinge and, more faintly, in the lower outside corner of the front pastedown. The pages are largely clean and bright, with only a small amount of light foxing/offsetting. This work contains a tissue-guarded frontispiece depicting Court House and Poor House of Lyons, numerous (double-page) plates offering views of towns, buildings, farms, landmarks, as well as portraits of prominent citizens and/or historical figures. There is also, in addition to the color outline map of the country, a color map of Phelps and Gorhams purchase of 1790. The text appears in double columns. Lithographs.
